MAG Alliance

The Medical Association of Georgia (MAG) Alliance is a volunteer network of physician spouses dedicated to improving the health of all Georgians, especially children. Through our county medical alliances, we sponsor health education programs, and publish and distribute informational materials on issues such as domestic violence, AIDS, fire and bicycle safety, and immunization. We conduct health forums for teens and the elderly. Currently, we are sponsoring a health education curriculum in 42 Georgia schools reaching approximately 19,050 students.

MAG Alliance celebrates its 85th anniversary

From the Journal of the Medical Association of Georgia, 1924:

On May 8th, 1924, during the convocation of the Association held in Augusta, the Women's Auxiliary was organized and officially recognized by the Association. Its object is to extend the aims of the medical profession through the wives of the doctors to the various women's organizations which look to the advancement in health and education; to assist in entertainment; to promote acquaintanceship among doctor's families, that local unity and harmony may be increased. It is a most commendable organization.

Welcome to the Medical Association of Georgia Alliance. MAG Alliance is a diverse volunteer force - male and female, from many cultural backgrounds - working together to make a difference in health care for Georgians. We are here to support the profession of medicine. For the past 85 years, physicians' spouses working together through the Alliance have strengthened medicine's voice with improved community health, advocacy for patients, and support of business and government decisions that foster quality medical care.

We are united by a common interest in promoting accessible, quality health care through service, education and advocacy for the residents of Georgia. We focus on supporting the medical family, educating the community, and advocating for the practice of medicine. We understand the role of the spouse as a partner in the profession of medicine.

Please take a few minutes to browse our Web site. You will find many examples of the activities that Alliance members in Georgia dedicate themselves. I am sure you will find something that resonates with you. Please contact us if you would like further information on membership or any activity with which the MAG Alliance is involved. The MAG Alliance is here to support physicians’ spouses, their families and the practice of medicine.
