Distressed Physicians' Fund
Grants Still Available for Physicians Recovering from Natural Disasters
In a profession that is focused on providing care and helping patients, it’s clear that we want to offer the same support to our colleagues.
Following the devastating tornadoes in Sumter County earlier this year, the Medical Association of Georgia Foundation, Inc., is offering assistance to those physicians affected by this disaster. Contributions to the Distressed Physician’s Fund are used to assist physicians who experience financial hardship caused by natural disasters or other circumstances beyond their control. The fund is independent of the general fund, which is governed by the MAG Foundation’s defined objectives. Physicians in the Sumter County area who have suffered losses can apply for a grant or loan from this fund. It is not designed to replace lost income. But it can help pay for overhead and early reconstruction while waiting for insurance benefits.
While this natural disaster was one of the worst in years to our medical community, we know there is an unfortunate chance of other Georgia physicians needing health care recovery in the future. As colleagues, we have the ability to help each other rebuild and continue to provide quality care to Georgia’s patients. The MAG Foundation urges you to apply for this funding by contacting your county medical society. Get Contact Information for your CMS
