2010 Governor Candidates' Forum
MAG president says gubernatorial forum "huge success"

The Medical Association of Georgia (MAG) sponsored a free public forum that featured Georgia's gubernatorial candidates on Saturday, August 28 at the Cobb Energy Centre in Atlanta.
"The event surpassed our expectations in every way," MAG President Gary C. Richter, M.D., said. "It was a huge success for the residents of this state - and it enhanced the Medical Association of Georgia's brand and reputation in significant ways."
Democrat Roy Barnes, Republican Nathan Deal, and Libertarian John Monds addressed a number of key issues, including Medicaid and tort reform, before an audience of about 200.
Dr. Richter - who served as the event's host - said that the media coverage was extensive. And he added that he was "incredibly pleased" to see so many state leaders on hand for the event: "It shows the influence and depth of relationships that MAG has built with key policy makers across the state."
The media panel featured some of Atlanta's leading journalists, including John Bachman with WSB-TV (ABC), Wendy Saltzman with WGCL-TV (CBS), and Kyle Wingfield with The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Along with MAG, the forum was sponsored by the Georgia Drug Card, the Georgia Chapter of the American College of Cardiology, the Georgia College of Emergency Physicians, the Georgia Neurological Society, the Georgia Orthopaedic Society, the Georgia Psychiatric Physicians Association, the Georgia Society of Dermatologists, and the Georgia Society of Ophthalmology.
