07.28.07 MAG Board Approves Institute Name Change
At its July meeting, the MAG Board of Directors approved the name change of the MAG Institute to the Physicians' Institute for Excellence in Medicine, Inc. The new name facilitates its continuing and expanding role as a national leader among medical societies. The subsidiary relationship to MAG remains unchanged.

04.18.07 Institute Seeking Applications for Health Technology Awards
MAG Institute for Excellence in Medicine, in collaboration with the Medicare Quality Improvement Organization for Georgia (GMCF), has created a new health technology award to recognize Georgia physicians who have implemented technology solutions in their private practices.
MAG Institute will recognize up to five Georgia physician practices that have implemented a successful technology strategy in their organization. All physician-owned private practices are eligible to participate, except for current board members of the Institute and GMCF, or previous national health technology awardees.
Application Submission Period: April 1 - June 29, 2007

03.15.07 Institute Board Member Awarded IT Leadership Award
Dr. James Morrow, a commissioner with the federally supported Certification Commission for Health Care Information Technology, was named as the recipient of the 2007 Physician IT Leadership Award by the Health Care Information and Management Systems Society at its annual trade show in New Orleans. Dr. Morrow is a family practitioner with the 11-physician North Fulton Family Medicine, and manager of its office in Cumming.
Dr. Morrow is a member of the Board for the Medical Association of Georgia's Institute for Excellence in Medicine and a member of a health care IT advisory panel of the Joint Commission. He is president and founder of a health care IT consulting firm, Health Care Quality, Technology and Research.
