AMA outlines Medicare QPP recommendations
The American Medical Association (AMA) has released a document that outlines a series of recommendations that it is promoting to improve the Quality Payment Program (QPP) that the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) created to implement the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act (MACRA).
AMA says, “The document was developed with input from the specialty and state medical society representatives who serve on [AMA’s] MIPS and APM work groups. [AMA has] provided it to CMS officials who requested timely input on [AMA’s] suggestions as [CMS is] working on upcoming QPP regulations."
AMA also notes that it “will also be working with these groups to identify possible legislative initiatives to improve the program.”
