Private Payer Advocacy

The Division of Private Payer Advocacy is responsible for assisting MAG members in their dealings with private insurers and health plans. This includes the following areas of responsibility:

  • Department of Insurance
    • Assist MAG members who have problems with private sector payers, such as Aetna U.S. Health Care, CIGNA, United HealthCare, Wellpoint/BCBS of Ga., etc.
  • Respond in a timely manner to all MAG physicians' requests
  • Maintain ongoing communications with requesting physicians and inform them of final results
  • Provide education to MAG members on emerging issues in the marketplace and how to deal with these issues to enhance their ability to practice medicine
  • Attend, monitor and advocate MAG's positions at meetings that fall within the Division's areas of responsibility
