House of Delegates

The Medical Association of Georgia (MAG) is encouraging delegates, alternate delegates, and guests to register for its 2021 House of Delegates (HOD) meeting – which will take place at the Westin Jekyll Island and Jekyll Island Convention Center on Saturday, October 23 and Sunday, October 24.

This year’s HOD will feature…

– A complimentary ‘Welcome Reception’ to honor MAG’s 2020-2021 president, Lisa Perry-Gilkes, M.D., F.A.C.S., that will be sponsored by ACG Wealth from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, October 22. All delegates and alternates delegates and sponsors and guests are encouraged to attend this event.

– A ‘Tropical Island Dinner’ to honor Dr. Perry-Gilkes that will begin at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, October 22. The menu will feature spinach salad with sesame ginger dressing, slow-smoked brisket with chipotle citrus BBQ, baked Mahi-mahi with pineapple salsa, fried sweet plantains, coconut curry glazed carrots, key lime pie, rolls, and a champagne toast. The cost of this plated meal, which includes two drink tickets, is $79.53 per person (plus $11.63 in taxes and processing fees). Attendees are encouraged to wear white attire to this event.

– A complimentary lunch for every delegate and physician and medical student that will be sponsored by MAG Insurance Agency, LLC. that will begin at 12:45 p.m. on Saturday, October 23.

– An ‘Ice Cream Social’ that is being sponsored by the MAG Alliance that will be held at Fuse Frozen Yogurt, which is less than a block from the Westin, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, October 23. All HOD delegates and family members and guests are encouraged to enjoy a complimentary frozen treat.

– A ‘President’s Inaugural Reception and Dinner’ that will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 23 – following the ceremony to install Fred Flandry, M.D., as MAG’s president for 2021-2022. The menu will feature grilled filet mignon and crab cakes, roasted garlic mashed potatoes, fresh asparagus, and rolls. The cost of this plated meal, which includes two drink tickets, is $100.86 per person (plus $14.29 in taxes and processing fees). The dress code for this event is formal/business attire.

– A complimentary lunch for all GAMPAC members ($250 or higher) that will begin at about 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 24.

These events are all optional.

MAG’s Board of Directors will meet at the Westin from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, October 22.

Please note that the Westin will not accept room reservations from individual delegates or other HOD attendees. Once you complete the online registration form by clicking on the link that is at the bottom of this email, MAG’s meeting planning company will make a room(s) reservation on your behalf. The deadline to get the MAG room discount of $243 per night plus taxes is September 24. The credit card that you use to register for the HOD will not be charged for your room(s) until you check into the hotel.

HOD attendees are encouraged to download MAG’s app, which includes key information for this year’s meeting (e.g., reports and resolutions, logistical details, contacts). The Westin Jekyll Island offers complimentary self-parking or valet parking for $12 per day. This includes unlimited in/out privileges. The Westin also provides a shuttle service to and from the Convention Center.
