How much does it cost to join/renew MAG?
MAG dues are $275 per year for the first two years and $500 per year thereafter.
How does MAG interact with county medical societies in the state?
Georgia’s County Medical Societies (CMS) offer some excellent benefits (e.g., referral services, special events, educational opportunities) that will enable you to run a more successful practice and expand your professional network. You are not required to join your CMS to join MAG (or vice versa), but MAG does encourage its members to join their CMS.
Am I required to join AMA if I join MAG?
No, MAG and the American Medical Association (AMA) are separate organizations – but MAG’s House of Delegates does elect Georgia’s AMA Delegation and MAG does encourage its members to join AMA.
Are MAG and MagMutual the same?
No. MAG is a physicians’ advocacy organization, while MagMutual is one of the largest medical malpractice insurers in the Southeast U.S. MAG does not own MagMutual, but the two do share a long history – and MAG endorses MagMutual.

What are MAG's membership requirements?
A physician can join MAG if they have a Georgia medical license and meet the basic rules of membership. According to MAG’s bylaws, an “active” member must have a medical degree and be licensed to practice medicine in Georgia or be employed as an intern, resident or fellow in a hospital or institution whose internship, residency or fellowship program is approved by the Georgia Composite Medical Board or any predecessor or successor body authorized to license a doctor of medicine or be employed as a commissioned medical officer in any of the armed forces of the U.S. or in the U.S. Public Health Service, the Department of Veterans Affairs or the Indian Health Service.
Can I join more than one state medical association?
If I move to Georgia and I was a member of another state medical association at the time, do I need to pay dues to join MAG?
No. MAG has a reciprocal agreement with the other state medical associations – so you can join MAG for the rest of a calendar year for free if you already paid your dues for that year in the other state.
Does MAG offer a ‘find a physician’ feature?
Yes, MAG's website has a ‘Find a Physician’ feature that enables Georgians to search for MAG member physicians by specialty and location.
How can I become more involved at MAG?
