AMA, MAG Foundation promoting free webinar on opioid epidemic

The American Medical Association and the Medical Association of Georgia Foundation are encouraging physicians to register for a free ‘Working together to end the nation’s opioid epidemic’ webinar that the HBCU-Center for Excellence in Behavioral Health at the Morehouse University School of Medicine will host from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday, April 26.

The webinar will address the “changing nature of the nation’s opioid epidemic” and “the main policy interventions used to-date designed to end the epidemic” and “whether those policy interventions are sufficient, including what needs to be done next to end the epidemic.”

It will also “consider how bias and stigma may play a role in treating pain and substance use disorder with respect to race, gender and ethnicity.”

The webinar will be led by Patrice Harris, M.D., the chair of the AMA Opioid Task Force.

The webinar does not offer any CME credit, but participants can “request a certificate for participation in a one-hour distant learning webinar.”
