AMA conducting survey on physicians’ sexual orientation/gender ID
The American Medical Association (AMA) is encouraging physicians to complete a survey that it is conducting to “[learn] more about the physician population, specifically as it relates to sexual orientation and gender identity.”
AMA says that, “Having this information means the AMA will be better equipped to meet the specific needs – and better reflect the makeup – of the nation’s increasingly diverse physician community.”
AMA is stressing that the survey is “entirely voluntary” and that the results will be “kept completely confidential.”
AMA also emphasizes that the effort “doesn’t involve a traditional survey…[instead] participants establish an online account and data is then pulled from that.”
AMA is conducting the survey as a result of a policy that was established by AMA’s House of Delegates.
