AMA promoting diabetes prevention CME video
The American Medical Association (AMA) is promoting a free ‘Preventing diabetes in your Medicare population’ video CME activity.
AMA says the video addresses the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ diabetes prevention program (DPP) and two new Medicare Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) “improvement activities” that “serve as an incentive for physicians to screen their population for prediabetes and refer their eligible patients to the DPP.”
The video “outlines the criteria for patient eligibility for the Medicare DPP, describes the health benefits in referring patients to this evidence-based intervention, and reviews the MIPS activities and relevance for preventing diabetes in older adults.”
AMA also notes that physicians who watch the video will “learn how to help prevent diabetes by explaining the epidemiology, clinical evidence and guidelines regarding diabetes prevention in the Medicare population.”
