Expert discusses ground-breaking HIT solution on new ‘Top Docs’ episode

One of the nation’s leading subject matter experts addressed a ground-breaking health IT solution when she appeared on the latest episode of the Medical Association of Georgia’s (MAG) ‘Top Docs Radio’ show.

“HealtheParadigm enables physicians to generate sophisticated patient data reports they can use to improve outcomes and fulfill the new quality-based payer metrics,” says Laura McCrary, the senior vice president of KaMMCO Health Solutions and the executive director of the Kansas Health Information Network. “It features a private, statewide health information network that participating physicians can use to share key patient data.”

McCrary adds that, “Given the new alternative payment models that were developed by Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services as a result of federal law, including the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) and a number of Advanced Alternative Payment Models (APM), it is imperative for physicians to be able to secure and submit the data they need to demonstrate that they are delivering ‘quality’ care.”

She also notes that, “Physicians who participate in the HealtheParadigm network have access to actionable data and meaningful analytics reports that can help them fulfill the MIPS and APM reporting requirements. The foundation for many of these reports are the ‘eClinical Quality Measures’ from CMS that track metrics like the management of chronic diseases, preventive care, the use of appropriate medications, and the overall cost of care.”

And she stresses that, “The National Committee for Quality Assurance, or NCQA, has certified the KHS system, which means physicians can have peace of mind knowing that it has undergone rigorous and extensive testing.”

MAG has endorsed HealtheParadigm, which is physician-led. In addition to MAG Executive Director Donald J. Palmisano Jr., HealtheParadigm's advisory committee includes Frank McDonald, M.D., neurology, Gainesville; Tom Bat, M.D., family medicine, Alpharetta; Joseph W. Stubbs, M.D., internal medicine, Albany; Steve Walsh, M.D., anesthesiology, Roswell; and Doug Patten, M.D., associate dean, Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University – SW Campus.

Physicians and applicable practice staff can contact Susan Moore with MAG at smoore@mag.org or 678-303-9275 for additional details on HealtheParadigm.

MAG sponsors the ‘Top Docs’ program twice a month. Between downloads and live listeners, it has now reached more than 70,000 listeners – which includes people in all 50 states and 84 countries.

MAG’s ‘Top Docs Radio’ show is supported with a grant from Health Care Research, a subsidiary of Alliant Health Solutions.
