Georgia AG issues key, pro-physician PDMP opinion

The Georgia Attorney General's office has released an opinion that says that, "O.C.G.A. § 16-13-60(c)(1) authorizes physicians to delegate their authority to access the Georgia Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (“GAPDMP”) to registered nurses or licensed practical nurses who are (1) members of the physician’s staff and (2) accessing the GAPDMP solely for the purpose of determining whether misuse, abuse, or underutilization of prescribed medication has occurred."
