MAG/KHS to host QPP events in Douglas & Columbus
The Medical Association of Georgia (MAG) and KaMMCO Health Solutions (KHS) are encouraging physicians and applicable practice staff to register for one of the free ‘Quality Matters: The New Data Dilemma’ events that the organizations will host in Douglas from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Monday, February 12 and in Columbus from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 13.
The program will address 2018 changes to the Quality Payment Program (QPP), featuring a presentation by Laura McCrary, senior vice president of KaMMCO Health Solutions, Inc.
McCrary explains, “According to CMS, the QPP is expected to strengthen the patient-physician relationship, empower patients to realize the value of their care over volume of tests, and encourage innovation and competition within the American health care system.”
She adds, “In 2018, physicians or groups of physicians who are eligible for participation in the Medicare Merit-Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) with $90,000 or less in Part B allowable charges or who have 200 or fewer Part B beneficiaries will not be required to participate in quality metric reporting. This expands the dollar amount and number of patient thresholds, affecting clinicians who originally were required to report data by January 21, 2018.”
The February events will include a reception and dinner. The Douglas event is co-sponsored by the Coffee County Medical Society and the Medical Association of Georgia's District 8. The Columbus event is co-sponsored by the Muscogee County Medical Society.
