MAG among groups calling for VA to amend scope directive

The Medical Association of Georgia is one of a long list of physicians’ organizations that signed letters that were sent to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to urge it to amend Directive 1899, which allows non-physician health care professionals in 32 specialties to practice independently. The letter calls for VA to “defer to state scope of practice laws and to rescind an accompanying April 21 memorandum that encourages all VA medical facilities to allow CRNAs to practice without physician oversight.”
