PAI weighs in on APMs, CMS Innovation Center

The Physicians Advocacy Institute (PAI) recently submitted a letter to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to offer its recommendations on the “development and modification of [Medicare] APMs (alternative payment models) and [CMS] Innovation Center models.”

PAI’s “overarching objectives” include: “Provide increased flexibilities, incentives, and greater resources for physicians and other clinicians; Be patient-centric and include elements that focus on patient needs, as well as encourage and incentivize patient engagement; Include pilots and programs with clear guidance and enhanced clarity; Rely upon input from, and collaboration with, state medical associations; and Reduce the physician burden.”

PAI’s mission is to “advance fair and transparent payment policies and contractual practices by payers and others to sustain the profession of medicine for the benefit of patients.”

Medical Association of Georgia Executive Director Donald J. Palmisano Jr. serves on PAI’s Board of Directors.
