Physician calling for donations, medicine to help USVI storm victims
Mitzi Rubin, M.D., a member of the Medical Association of Georgia and a family medicine physician with WellStar Health System in Marietta, is encouraging physicians and medical practices to donate medical supplies and medications to help victims of Hurricane Irma in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Dr. Rubin’s father is a gastroenterologist in St. Thomas, and he reports that the hospital and cancer center in St. Thomas were “destroyed” by the storm.
Dr. Rubin says that, “They are in dire need of supplies, especially blood pressure medications, Tetanus vaccine, antibiotics, diabetes medications, and anti-seizure medications.”
In addition to medical supplies and medicine, Dr. Rubin is looking for volunteers to help her with logistics.
Physicians and practice staff who are interested in supporting this relief effort should contact Dr. Rubin by email
or call 678.637.2433.
