AHRQ promoting free antibiotic safety program

The U.S. Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) is encouraging pediatric and adult ambulatory clinics in Georgia to participate in its free ‘Safety Program for Improving Antibiotic Use,’ which satisfies the Joint Commission’s new ambulatory requirements.

AHRQ says that, “This year-long program consists of presentations about best-practices in prescribing (or more often not prescribing) antibiotics for common outpatient syndromes. The presentations are delivered in several ways to facilitate uptake by busy outpatient clinicians – webinars that are recorded, audio-presentations, and written materials. Participants are asked to engage with the learning materials as well as with colleagues in the clinic to push the practice overall towards improved antibiotic use.”

Interested clinics are encouraged to register for an informational webinar.
