Center for Injury Prevention & Control’s Scientific Counselors’ Board to host teleconference

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) would like to notify you of a meeting of the Board of Scientific Counselors of the National Center for Injury Prevention and Control (BSC/NCIPC). The meeting will be held by teleconference on April 30 from 12:30 p.m. to 3:50 p.m. EDT.

As one of CDC’s federal advisory committees, the BSC/NCIPC advises and makes recommendations to the Secretary, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the Director, CDC, and the Director, NCIPC, regarding surveillance, research, and implementation, dissemination, and evaluation of evidence-based strategies for the prevention of injury and violence.

In follow-up to the BSC/NCIPC meeting held in December 2019, matters to be considered during the upcoming teleconference meeting include…

– An update on the CDC Opioid Prescribing Estimates Project

– A presentation on ‘The Management of Acute and Chronic Pain: Opportunities for Stakeholder Engagement and Public Comment’

– An update on the formation of the BSC/NCIPC Opioid Workgroup

After the presentation and the two updates, a public comment period will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. EDT. 

This teleconference meeting is open to the public, limited only by the number of available telephone ports. There will be 2,000 telephone ports available. Individuals may register to call in to participate and/or provide public comment. Written comments may also be submitted in advance using a registration form. Future announcements will include more information regarding the registration and public comment processes, as well as a link to the registration form.
