DPH encouraging physicians who suspect a patient has measles to report ASAP
Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH) Commissioner Kathleen E. Toomey, M.D., M.P.H., is encouraging physicians in the state who suspect a patient has measles to call DPH “immediately” at 404-657-2588 (during business hours) or 866-PUB-HLTH (after hours or weekends).
DPH has “confirmed 11 cases of measles in the past 10 days…bring[ing] the total number of confirmed measles cases in Georgia to 18 so far this year – more than in the previous decade combined.”
Dr. Toomey emphasizes that “we must be ever vigilant for patients presenting with febrile rash illness and clinically compatible measles symptoms.”
