GBHCW reopens physician loan program for two spots

The Georgia Board of Health Care Workforce (GBHCW) has announced that it is “reopening the Georgia Physician Loan Repayment Program (GPLRP) application process for two recently opened spots.”

GBHCW says that…

– The GPLRP is a two-year commitment and awards $25,000 per year. The participant may reapply for additional funding awarded on an annual basis for two additional years, for a maximum of four years under the GPLRP.

– The GPLRP is limited to physicians who practice in family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics, OB/GYN, geriatrics, or psychiatry.

– GPLRP applicants must practice in a ‘Health Professional Shortage Area’ that is in a rural county (i.e., population of less than 50,000).

The application deadline is May 1. Paperwork should be mailed to the “Georgia Board of Health Care Workforce, Attn: GPLRP, 2 Peachtree Street NW, 6th Floor, Atlanta, Georgia 30303.”
