MAG among groups calling for DCH to accelerate/advance Medicaid pay

The Medical Association of Georgia is one of 27 physicians’ organizations that are calling for the Georgia Department of Community Health (DCH) to adopt policies that will accelerate or advance payments for Medicaid physicians in the state for the duration of the COVID-19 public health emergency – similar to the ones that the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) recently authorized.

The letter cautions that, “Small and independent practices, the sole providers of Medicaid services in some regions of the state, are reporting a drop of up to 75 percent in their patient volume. This trend is unsustainable, and if it continues for the next 90 days, many Medicaid patients will lose access to health care because of the permanent closure of these practices.”
