MAG opposing bill to include clinical psychologists in Medicare’s definition of ‘physician’

The Medical Association of Georgia was one of the physicians’ advocacy organizations that signed a letter that was sent to Congressional leaders to oppose the ‘Medicare Mental Health Access Act’ (H.R. 884/S. 2772), which would “change the definition of ‘physician’ under the Medicare program to include clinical psychologists.”

The organizations believe that the legislation would “put patient safety at risk by allowing psychologists to offer services which they are not trained to perform.”
