MAG seeking nominations for organized medical staff section

The Medical Association of Georgia (MAG) is seeking nominations for its Organized Medical Staff Section (OMSS) – keeping in mind that MAG’s 2019 House of Delegates amended MAG’s Constitution and Bylaws to add eight members of the OMSS to MAG’s Board of Directors.

MAG’s bylaws state that the OMSS “shall be comprised of physicians in large group physician-owned medical practices [or] physicians employed by any duly licensed hospital…”

MAG defines large groups as those that have “20 or more physicians that make a single payment for membership.” OMSS practices are also required to be a member of their applicable county medical society.

Examples of eligible OMSS groups include…

– Independent practice associations
– Accountable care organizations (ACOs)
– Single specialty groups
– Multiple specialty groups
– Hospital employed physicians
– Health system physicians

MAG’s Board of Directors meets three times per year, including January (Saturday), April/May (Saturday), and October (the Friday before the House of Delegates). The meetings normally last three to four hours.

Nominations should be submitted to MAG Executive Director Donald J. Palmisano Jr. at by Friday, December 16.
