New ‘Top Docs’ features Congressional candidate Dr. Rich McCormick

The latest edition of the Medical Association of Georgia’s (MAG) ‘Top Docs’ show features Richard “Rich” McCormick, M.D., M.B.A., who MAG is endorsing as a candidate for Georgia’s 7th Congressional District – which includes large portions of Gwinnett and Forsyth counties.  

Dr. McCormick is a MAG member, an emergency medicine physician at Gwinnett Medical Center in Lawrenceville, and a 20-year veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and Navy – having served as an officer and a helicopter pilot in combat zones in Africa, the Persian Gulf, and Afghanistan.

As a Marine, Dr. McCormick was an officer instructor who flew helicopters and taught at Georgia Tech and Morehouse College. When he was in the Navy, Dr. McCormick earned the rank of commander and served as the department head for the Emergency Medicine Department in Afghanistan. He has a degree from the Morehouse School of Medicine, where he was elected student body president. Dr. McCormick completed a residency through Emory while he was in training at Grady Hospital in Atlanta. It is also worth noting that he has an M.B.A. from National University in California.

The primary election will take place on June 9.

Between downloads and live listeners, ‘Top Docs’ has now reached more than one million listeners and viewers – which includes people in all 50 states and more than 80 countries. MAG has won two awards for the show, including an American Association of Medical Society Executives Profiles of Excellence Award and a Health Information Resource Center Digital Health Award.

‘Top Docs’ is supported with a grant from Alliant Health Solutions in memory of Tom Williams, its former CEO.
