POS releases results of national survey on key health care issues

Public Opinion Strategies (POS) has released the results of a national survey that addresses an array of key health care issues.

POS reports that when asked to what extent they feel safe in different medical facilities – with 1 = not at all safe and 10 = very safe – the percentage of respondents who gave an answer of 8, 9, or 10 included…

– Doctor’s office at 34 percent

– Hospital for routine or scheduled care at 31 percent

– Hospital for emergency care at 29 percent

– Outpatient surgery center at 28 percent

– Urgent care center at 25 percent

POS discovered that health care providers “continue to hold a large trust advantage when it comes to information about the coronavirus,” including nurses at 88 percent, physicians at 87 percent, hospitals at 84 percent, the CDC at 74 percent, governors at 57 percent, health insurers at 54 percent, and the national news media at 47 percent.

POS also found that…

– “Telehealth utilization continues to rise, and patients continue to report high levels of satisfaction,” as “43 percent of Americans report having used telehealth, a 14-point increase from our April survey. And 86 percent of those who have had a telehealth visit report being satisfied with their experience.”

– “A majority of Americans continue to support additional funding for hospitals,” as 60 percent believe hospitals need additional financial support from the federal government, while just 20 percent say they need less funding or have received the right amount of funding.”

– “The debate over vaccination looms as the battle for masking wanes,” as “more than three-quarters of Americans indicate [that they are] always wearing a mask in public. But just 53 percent say they are extremely or very likely to take a vaccine when one is available.”
